How to prepare for 5G?

Operators’ preparations for 5G by using one-time accurate simulations at higher frequency bands - Operators surely have noticed the high pressure adapting small cells in 5G, but the schedule appears to be distant. However, there is no time to waste: if new sites or wall mounted antenna locations are needed, the detailed preparations should start soon.

The understanding about small cell needs and volumes should be based on careful analysis of existing network configurations and on the impact of transition from current frequency bands to higher frequency bands, even as high as 30 GHz. This analysis gives important information related to operational expenditures (OPEX) in the transition to 5G.

Transition analysis can be carried out only by using highly accurate simulations. sAGA Ray Tracing software provides exact calculations using an advanced proprietry ray tracing frame-work. A representative example result of this kind of calculation is given in the attached presentation.
